A senior American official has acknowledged that designating Ansarullah as a terrorist organization would not alter their support to Gaza.

David Schenker, the former Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs during the first Trump administration, explained that Washington’s decision to place Ansarullah on terrorist lists would not deter the group from its positions or activities.

Schenker noted that it is unlikely the decision by the new US President, Donald Trump, to re-designate Ansarullah as a terrorist organization will influence their behavior, actions, or stance.

Trump had previously designated Ansarullah as a terrorist organization, allegedly in response to its supportive stance toward the Palestinian people and their resistance in the Gaza Strip. This position gained widespread approval both regionally and internationally over the course of one year and four months.

As part of its war on the Yemeni people, Washington announced late Wednesday that it is designating the Yemeni government in Sana’a on its so-called “terrorism” list, threatening to mobilize its regional proxies against Yemen in an attempt to pressure the Yemeni people to abandon their support for Gaza.
