In keeping with the terms of the ceasefire agreement, the Gaza Strip’s Rafah border crossing with Egypt was reopened on Saturday to allow sick and wounded Palestinians to leave for medical treatment abroad.
According to the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza, 50 sick and wounded citizens, mostly children with cancer and heart issues, left the Strip, accompanied by a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO).
The children arrived with their families from different areas of the Gaza Strip at the Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip before they were transported aboard two large buses and ambulances to the Rafah crossing.
According to WHO, there are still 12,000 to 14,000 people who require urgent specialized medical care outside Gaza.
