The head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdulqader Al-Murtadha, highlighted the crimes committed by the Islah Party militia against prisoners and detainees in the occupied prisons of Marib.
In a series of posts on his X account, Al-Murtadha stated that the secret prisons of the Islah Party in Marib are comparable to their Emirati counterparts in the occupied southern cities, both in terms of their numbers and the violations committed against hundreds of detainees.
He further noted that Marib’s mercenaries have not only resorted to blocking roads, but their treacherous actions have also extended into homes, violating the safety and security of civilians.
He pointed out that Mohammed Naji Marit was abducted from his home in Al-Hazm district, with his only “crime” being his freedom. In Al-Saleh Institute Prison in Marib, he was subjected to severe torture until he breathed his last. He added: “Yesterday, it was the poet Rashid Al-Hussam, today it is the citizen Majid Al-Amari, and in between, hundreds have been executed inside these brutal prisons.”
The head of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee explained that the murder of poet Rashid Al-Hutam at the hands of Islah Party mercenaries in Marib exposes the brutality of the Saudi-UAE-run detention centers. He noted that Al-Hutam was executed simply for expressing solidarity with Gaza and declaring his rejection of the enemies of God on the night of the ceasefire of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
He further described the inhumane conditions inside Marib’s prisons, including physical torture, breaking prisoners’ limbs, beating the wounded on their injuries, sleep deprivation, providing food infested with cockroaches and insects, starvation, contaminated drinking water, and preventing detainees from contacting their families.
Al-Murtadha also emphasized that Egyptian citizen Sahar Rajab has been pleading with her country’s authorities to intervene in her case, and facilitate her return to Egypt. However, her Egyptian nationality did not spare her from the brutality of the mercenaries in Marib’s prisons. After enduring severe torture, she was released but prohibited from traveling without any justification.
He also noted that detainees in Islah Party prisons in Marib are dying due to medical neglect and the lack of medicines to combat widespread diseases, while several women have also lost their lives due to brutal torture in these mercenary-run prisons.
