A US aircraft carrier group has left the Red Sea for Europe, weeks after Yemen’s Houthi rebel group said it would stop attacking ships in the region, Bloomberg reported, citing US Navy ‘s statement .
The US Navy said in a statement that the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman and its fighter jets arrived in Greece after two months of combat operations in the Red Sea region.
The move comes as the shipping industry awaits signs that Red Sea shipping traffic will begin to return to normal after more than a year of disruption.
Although a few American and British ships have sailed through the waterway since the Sana’a forces announced they would halt their attacks, most ships continue to sail thousands of miles around Africa instead.
