Outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today, Tuesday, that he had a “good” call with US President Donald Trump, to discuss the issue of tariffs.
According to what the Canadian Prime Minister announced, the two leaders agreed to suspend the implementation of new tariffs on Canada for 30 days, while the two countries work on a plan to combat cross-border crime.
Trudeau said in a post on the “X” platform: “I just had a good call with President Trump. The proposed tariffs will be suspended for at least 30 days.”
He added that Canada will begin implementing a $1.3 billion border plan, which includes reinforcing the border with helicopters and new technologies. Canada will also deploy nearly ten thousand security personnel to protect the border, he said.
