Foreign Minister Meets With Chilean Human Rights Activists

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Jamal Amer, met on Tuesday with human rights activists from the Republic of Chile, Dr. Pablo Allende, the international and national coordinator of the Humanitarian Defense Network, and Dr. Roberto Bermudez, the president of the Raul Pellegrin Foundation in Chile.

In the meeting, Minister Amer welcomed the activists and referred to the struggle to defend the oppressed and combat US imperialism, which has resurfaced in its ugliest forms under the current US administration.

“Trump is threatening to plunge the world back into the darkness of the 19th century, which calls for a collective effort from the free people of the world and those opposing imperialism and the American-Zionist agenda to prevent the looming crime of genocide, as they talk about forcing over two and a half million Palestinians out of Gaza,” he said.

Amer explained that Islam is a religion that rejects injustice and oppression, and that the early Muslims were among the oppressed who worked to confront injustice and arrogance.

He stressed that Sana’a, led by Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, was the only one that engaged in direct military confrontation with the United States and the Zionist regime, pointing out that imperialist forces are attempting to undermine the spirit of resistance in Yemen by intensifying the economic blockade on its people.

“The blockade will only strengthen their resolve and increase their support for their leadership.”

Meanwhile, the human rights activists, Dr. Allende and Dr. Bermudez, pointed out that their visit to Yemen is to express their support for and solidarity with the Yemeni people and their revolutionary government in facing the comprehensive blockade they have endured for ten years.

They explained that during their visit, they observed the dire health situation that has caused the death of many children due to the deterioration of health services as a result of the blockade.

Allende and Bermudez considered the economic blockade to be a more powerful and dangerous weapon than bombs, including nuclear bombs.
