The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Sunday that its forces eliminated around 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers” over the past 24 hours, according to the “RIA Novosti” news agency.
In its daily report, the ministry confirmed that units from the Sever Group of Forces (North) clashed with formations of the Ukrainian Mechanized Infantry Brigade and the Territorial Defense Brigade in several areas, resulting in the deaths of approximately 30 Ukrainian soldiers.
The Zapad (West) Group of Forces managed to secure more effective strategic positions, inflicting losses exceeding 190 Ukrainian military personnel.
Meanwhile, the Yug (South) Group of Forces successfully took control of the town of Urozhaine in the Donetsk People’s Republic, while the Ukrainian army suffered heavy losses of over 165 soldiers, in addition to the destruction of several pieces of military equipment.
As for the Dnepr Group, the forces eliminated 85 Ukrainian soldiers. Air defense systems also shot down 4 French-made guided bombs and a HIMARS missile, in addition to destroying 73 enemy drones.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian Air Force reported a ‘record’ attack between Saturday and Sunday, detecting 267 Russian drones in Ukrainian airspace—the highest number since the start of Russia’s military operation on February 24, 2022.
Ukrainian defenses claimed that their air defenses ‘intercepted 138 of them, while 119 drones were used for decoy purposes without causing damage,’ according to their statement.
On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces had taken control of the town of Novoliubovka in Luhansk and achieved significant field advances on several fronts, inflicting heavy losses on Ukrainian forces and destroying strategic military equipment.
