Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov described on Wednesday US Donald Trump’s plan to displace Palestinians in Gaza a “time bomb.”
The top Russian diplomat made the remarks after a meeting with Qatar’s Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha.
He said the possible resettlement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other countries of the region, instead of implementing a two-state solution, would only set a time bomb in the process of the Palestine-Israel settlement.
He said that could lead to tragic consequences because the issue of establishing a Palestinian state is a key one, and attempts to undermine the [UN] Security Council decisions and replace the creation of a Palestinian state with the resettlement of the Palestinians in the region will lead to very negative consequences.
According to Lavrov, Russia is also concerned by the Israeli actions that contradict reaching a peace deal in the region.
