Saada Local Authority: Suspension of Aid Is Collective Punishment for the Yemeni People

The local authority in Saada Governorate condemned on Sunday the UN’s suspension of aid programs in the province, considering the decision to be politically motivated.

In a statement, the local authority described the UN’s move as a direct aggression on vulnerable groups, such as displaced persons, the sick, and the poor, and a violation of international laws.

The authority accused the UN of using humanitarian efforts for intelligence purposes to serve American and Israeli interests.

It considered the suspension of aid to be a collective punishment for the Yemeni people as a result of their position rejecting the crimes of Gaza.

It also criticized the UN’s reduction of aid and the delivery of spoiled food supplies, noting that food aid had been halted since Yemen’s support for Gaza over 16 months ago.

The statement called on the UN Secretary-General to refrain from politicizing aid and warned of legal actions to protect the people of Saada from humanitarian blackmail.
