Media sources reported that Saudi Arabia is moving to deploy the “Homeland Shield” militia in the oil-rich Shabwa governorate, which is currently under the control of the UAE-backed factions.
The sources confirmed that Saudi Arabia is seeking to re-strengthen its military presence in Shabwa by deploying these forces under the leadership of the mercenary “Jahdal Hanash” to lead the militia.
The sources explained that Saudi Arabia recently trained hundreds of elements of the “Homeland Shield” militia in camps near the Yemeni border, in the Sharurah area, and places adjacent to the Al-Wadiah border crossing.
The Saudi move came as part of a strategy to expand its influence in areas rich in natural resources in Yemen, and to reduce the presence of the Transitional Council factions affiliated with the Emirates, as part of the conflict between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh to plunder Yemen’s wealth through their mercenary tools.
