Protests and popular anger are escalating in various areas under the control of the occupation as a result of the collapse of economic and living conditions.
The people of the city of Aden – under the control of the occupation – continue their protests for the third week in a row, denouncing the severe economic collapse and deterioration of services suffered by the city and the occupied governorates.
Yesterday, hundreds of citizens took to the streets in the areas of Khormaksar and Mualla, raising banners expressing their anger at the deterioration of living conditions and rising prices, amid angry demands for the departure of the occupation and its affiliated government.
Despite the kidnapping campaign that targeted participants in the demonstrations during the past days, the protest marches set off from the airport road in Khormaksar and reached the headquarters of the local authorities affiliated with the occupation in Mualla, without any noteworthy solutions being taken by the “occupation government”.
The protesters raised banners with slogans denouncing corruption and the collapse of basic services, such as electricity and water, and chanted slogans calling for the departure of the occupation and the overthrow of what they described as “corrupt”, led by the governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, affiliated with the Transitional Council, whom they accused of looting public revenues.
The demonstrators stressed that their protests will continue and escalate until their legitimate demands are met, which include improving living conditions and holding the corrupt accountable.
The popular movements came at a time when Aden is witnessing a stifling living crisis, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, as residents suffer from exorbitant prices of goods as a result of the continuous collapse of the value of the local currency.
In addition, the directorates of Abyan Governorate, which are under the control of the occupation, witnessed angry uprisings denouncing the deterioration of living and economic conditions and the collapse of services in all areas.
Thousands of citizens in the districts of Al-Wadea, Mudiyah, and Al-Mahfad took to the streets yesterday in angry marches, expressing their dissatisfaction with the systematic starvation policy practiced by the coalition against the people of Abyan and the southern regions, amid demands to expel the coalition.
The demonstrators denounced in their popular marches the deterioration of services, reaching the inability of the government affiliated with the coalition to provide a fuel shipment for power plants, with the aggravation of the suffering of employees due to the interruption of salaries and the rise in food prices due to the catastrophic collapse of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies.
The participants in the protest demonstrations announced their continuation of the revolution of the hungry until their demands to improve living conditions and provide basic services are met.
In a related context, hundreds of teachers and university professors demonstrated yesterday in the city of Taiz, which is under the control of the occupation factions, demanding the payment of their delayed salaries and the improvement of their living conditions.
The demonstration, organized by the educational unions and the Coordination Council of Unions “Matin”, came as part of the teachers’ strike for the fifth consecutive week, amid the government affiliated with the occupation ignoring their demands.
The demonstrators who toured the city streets raised banners demanding the payment of salaries delayed for nine months from 2016-2017, and demanded in a statement issued by the stand to review the wage and salary scale, pay annual allowances and bonuses, and work to find radical solutions to the stifling economic crisis.
They stressed the need to find real economic solutions to stop the ongoing collapse of the local currency against the dollar, which led to an unprecedented deterioration in the purchasing power of the local currency.
On the other hand, the head of the sit-in committee against foreign forces in Al-Mahrah Governorate, Sheikh Ali Salem Al-Harizi, arrived yesterday in the directorate of Hasween as part of the popular escalation campaign to thwart foreign plans targeting the governorate.
Al-Harizi confirmed during his meeting with the sheikhs and dignitaries of Hasween that Saudi Arabia is striving to implement colonial plans in Al-Mahrah… using its local tools from “Dar Al-Watan” in a desperate attempt to control the governorate and plunder its wealth.
He explained that the people of Mahra will not hesitate to confront these conspiracies by all available means.
Al-Harezi pointed out that Saudi Arabia has not stopped its attempts to impose its control over Mahra, by deploying its factions “Homeland Shield” to sow discord among the people of the province.
Al-Harezi pointed out that the sit-in committee against foreign presence will continue its escalation against Saudi attempts, stressing that foreign plans will fail in the face of the insistence of the people of Mahra to protect their lands and wealth from any new colonialism.
For their part, the sheikhs and dignitaries of Hasween confirmed their rejection of the foreign occupation and the Saudi factions of suspicious extremist Salafist groups, and their standing as one to protect Mahra from the subversive projects that Saudi Arabia seeks to impose by force on the people of the province.
