US Military Forces Arrive In Saudi-Occupied Mahrah

Last week, the United States sent new military forces (Marines) to the occupied Mahrah Governorate, a month after a group of US forces arrived in the same region, which has seen an increasing American presence in areas, which are under the control of the occupation and its tools. Meanwhile, Sana’a plays a crucial and military role in supporting the Palestinian resistance and countering the Zionist-American plots against the people of Gaza.

The United States seeks to strengthen its military influence in Yemen through its military presence in the occupied governorates or through its espionage cells, which have been apprehended and exposed by security agencies in Sana’a.

Their malicious activities and dubious role against Yemen and its people were revealed through confessions published by the security media of the Ministry of Interior in June of last year.

Coinciding with the anniversary of the expulsion of US Marine forces from Yemen, the United States has deployed, in two phases, military units of US Marines to Mahrah Governorate.

This move was preceded by Saudi deployment of the extremist militias, known as the “Dera Al-Watan” factions to consolidate control over key areas of the governorate.

The Saudi and American military presence in Mahrah faces widespread popular opposition, with the people of the governorate demanding withdrawal of all foreign forces, reopening of Al-Ghaydah International Airport as a civilian airport, and ending the militarization of the governorate, which is considered one of the last Yemeni areas away from direct conflict.

These actions come amid growing concerns about turning Mahrah into a battleground for regional and international military influence, while the people of the governorate continue their peaceful protests calling for the expulsion of all foreign forces and externally supported militias.

Hours after the arrival of US forces at Al-Ghaydah Airport in the province, clashes broke out, on Thursday, between Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” factions and tribal gunmen.

According to the  local sources in the governorate, the  clashes erupted the fighting occurred between the extremist Salafi members and tribal gunmen opposing foreign presence in the province  along the road between the areas of Nashton and Dhaboot, leaving casualties on both sides.

This comes after Saudi Arabia deployed ” Dera Al-Watan” factions, which were formed from extremist Salafi groups, amidst widespread rejection from the people of Mahrah.
