Today, the Fourth Vascular Surgery Conference and Second Cardiac Surgery Conference kicked off in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a.
The three-day conference organized by the Yemeni Vascular Surgery Association, aims to address advancements and challenges in the fields of vascular and cardiac surgery.
Speaking at the conference, the Health Minister Dr. Ali Sheiban stated that Yemen has faced significant challenges in maintaining and improving medical services due to the ongoing US-Saudi war and blockade, which have deliberately targeted the health sector.
Sheiban emphasized that despite the hardships, Yemen’s healthcare system has made notable advancements over the past decade, particularly in specialized services.
He highlighted the importance of keeping pace with medical advancements, fostering knowledge exchange, and improving vascular and cardiac surgery, which require precision and continuous development.
He called for stronger collaboration between public and private sectors, as well as partnerships with universities and research centers.
Dr. Nabil Al-Madwahi, head of the Yemeni Vascular Surgery Association, stressed the importance of discussing challenges and ambitions in the field.
The three-day conference features lectures, workshops, and discussions with 700 medical experts from Yemen and abroad, he added.
He clarified that vascular surgery and heart surgery are not just medical specialties but a humanitarian journey aimed at saving lives and improving the quality of life.
Al-Madwahi pointed out that the challenges faced today require collective efforts and collaboration at the institutional and medical levels locally, regionally, and globally, especially given the presence of distinguished Yemeni professionals in the fields of cardiac and vascular surgery.
He considered the conference as a platform for exchanging ideas and medical expertise on an Arab and international level through video technologies, listening, and participation in workshops and scientific lectures.
