Yemen Standardization Metrology & Quality Control Organization (YSMO) has launched a field inspection campaign to monitor markets and commercial shops in Taiz Governorate as well as gas stations in Dhammar Governorate.
In Taiz, YSMO has begun a 10-day campaign focused on inspecting food products, ensuring the accuracy of weights and measurements for packaged goods, and educating vendors on proper product display and trading requirements, particularly with Ramadan approaching.
Eng. Riyadh Al-Bukhaiti, Director of YSMO ‘s branch in Taz, urged consumers to carefully check product labels and expiry dates, advising them to avoid non-compliant goods. The campaign also includes distributing informational brochures to shop owners on trading standards.
Meanwhile, in Dhamar, the YSMO has completed a periodic monitoring and calibration program for domestic gas filling stations and the measuring tools used in industrial facilities.
Dr. Yahya al-Dabai, Director of the YSMO’s Dhamar branch, stressed the importance of ensuring that all measuring and weighing tools are verified with the Authority’s official sticker to prevent commercial fraud.
He also emphasized the need to adhere to Yemeni standard specifications, safety regulations, and legal standards.
These initiatives demonstrate the YSMO ’s commitment to protecting consumers and promoting fair trade practices throughout Yemen.
