Thousands of Zionist settlers gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday evening in a mass demonstration calling for the completion of the prisoner exchange deal with the Palestinian resistance in Gaza in all its phases.
According to Zionist media, the settlers, including families of prisoners, expressed concerns that the Israeli government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, might not complete the exchange deal, putting the lives of their loved ones still held in Gaza at risk.
In light of the escalating threat to the prisoners’ lives if the deal is not completed, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant acknowledged that Israel had been aware for some time of the deteriorating health of the Zionist prisoners in Gaza.
“This is another call to action for the path we must take – returning the hostages… it is the right Jewish, humane and moral act,” Gallant said in aa post on the “X” platform.
Gallant’s comments came after statements made by Netanyahu and other ministers in his government, who claimed to have been “surprised to see three prisoners released by Hamas in poor health.”
The protests coincide with the beginning of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and negotiations surrounding it.
Netanyahu proposed introducing some “changes to the terms of the deal” in a plan he presented to US President Donald Trump.
Netanyahu’s plan for the second phase of the agreement includes, among other things, a proposal for “top Hamas leaders in Gaza to relinquish control of the area and move abroad.”
On Saturday, the fifth batch of prisoners were released as part of the first phase of the agreement, with the Palestinian resistance releasing three Zionist prisoners in exchange for the release of 183 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.
