Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, confirmed that the US cannot claim that it’s seeking to restore stability to the region by attacking Yemen .
This came during his meeting with UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, who is in Tehran for consultations with Iranian officials.
During the meeting, Araghchi condemned repeated US military attacks on various parts of Yemen, the killing of Yemeni civilians, and the destruction of homes and infrastructure in the country.
He stressed that the US military aggression in Yemen, coinciding with intensified genocidal actions by the Zionist regime in Gaza and its attacks on Lebanon and Syria, is merely another indication of US complicity in Israel’s violations of international law and its alignment with the regime’s destabilizing activities in the region.
“The US policymakers must recognize that the root-cause of insecurity in the region is the ongoing occupation and genocide in occupied Palestine,” he stressed
He added that the US cannot claim that it’s seeking to restore stability to the region by attacking Yemen and killing innocent Yemeni citizens whose only crime is showing solidarity with oppressed Palestinians.
He also criticized the UN Security Council’s inaction regarding blatant violations of the UN charter and international law by the Israeli regime and the US, urging immediate and effective measures by the world body to halt these breaches and disrespect toward international norms.
