Britain criticized the accusations of spying that Russia made earlier today against two British diplomats whose accreditation it revoked, describing them as “baseless.”
The British Foreign Office said in a statement reported by the British Sky News channel today, Monday, “This is not the first time that Russia has issued malicious and baseless accusations against our employees.”
The Russian Federal Security Service announced earlier today that it had revoked the accreditation of two British diplomats because they posed a threat to the country’s national security, adding that the diplomats provided false information upon entering the country and carried out espionage and subversive activities.
Last month, the United Kingdom expelled a Russian diplomat, in retaliation for the expulsion of a British diplomat from Moscow in November 2024 after he was accused of espionage.
