The Cancer Control Fund condemned the US aggression’s targeting of the Al-Rasoul Al-A’zam Hospital for cancer patients in Sa’ada Governorate.
The center explained in a statement, a copy of which was received by Al-Thawra, that the US aggression committed a heinous crime by targeting the Al-Rasoul Al-A’zam Hospital, which was in the final stages of preparation to be a treatment center for hundreds of cancer patients in Sa’ada and neighboring governorates.
The center condemned in the strongest terms this crime, which reveals the true face of the United States, which claims to protect human rights while committing the most heinous crimes against vulnerable peoples.
The statement noted that the US aggression launched 13 deliberate airstrikes on the hospital, destroying large parts of it and causing catastrophic damage to its vital facilities, depriving hundreds of patients of treatment amid tragic health conditions.
It stated that this crime is not isolated, but rather part of a systematic US plan targeting the Yemeni people for years through brutal bombing and a stifling blockade.
This has led to a worsening of health conditions and the spread of deadly diseases, most notably cancer, which has spread due to the use of internationally banned weapons since 2015.
The statement denounced the US administration’s justifications for this heinous crime, which are nothing but blatant lies. The criminal US President Trump claimed that the attacks targeted “bases that threaten maritime navigation.” However, the undeniable truth is that the bombing targeted civilian objects and a medical facility dedicated to treating cancer patients, in blatant defiance of international law and disregard for humanitarian conventions.
The statement criticized the international community’s silence regarding these horrific crimes, placing them in the category of direct complicity with the US aggression. The failure to take immediate action to stop these attacks makes these parties complicit in the ongoing crimes against Yemenis.
The Fund called on the international community, all international organizations, especially those concerned with healthcare and those involved in monitoring and documenting crimes committed against civilians, and all free people of the world to take a firm stance against this barbaric aggression and these crimes committed against civilians and civilian objects in Yemen.
It emphasized that this crime will not deter us from continuing our humanitarian mission of providing care and treatment to cancer patients, despite the grave challenges and ongoing aggression.
