Civil Defense Extinguishes A Fire In A Mall That Caused The Death Of Two People

Civil Defense teams were able to extinguish a fire that broke out in the “Hyper Al-Bayt Al-Yemeni” center in the Al-Hataresh area, Bani Al-Harith Directorate, in the capital, Sana’a.

The Civil Defense Authority explained that the fire broke out in the back of the second floor, and the Civil Defense teams rushed to control the fire and prevented it from spreading to the rest of the mall.

It indicated that the fire caused the death of two people and the injury of a third, while workers were opening a hole in the wall of the second floor to remove some contents, as the ceiling collapsed on them, leading to the death of two workers:

1. Yahya Abdullah Ahmed Zanim (32 years old).

2. Muhammad Muhammad Ali Abdul Rab (40 years old).

The worker Ali Muhammad Hanshal (45 years old) was also moderately injured and was transferred to the hospital, in addition to others who sustained varying injuries.

The Civil Defense Authority stated that investigations are underway to determine the causes of the fire.

The Authority pointed out that the lack of public safety and security standards and requirements in the mall was the reason for the outbreak of the fire and the aggravation of its effects, and that the mall did not obtain a license to operate from the Civil Defense.

The Civil Defense Authority renewed its call to all commercial centers and malls to adhere to public safety requirements, and train workers on emergency procedures, to preserve lives and property.
