The General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip warned of an imminent danger threatening the lives of more than 50,000 Palestinian citizens in Barakat area west of Rafah governorate, after they were besieged by Israeli enemy forces.

In a statement issued Sunday, the Directorate called on the Red Cross and international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in protecting the trapped citizens and crews.

It warned against harming Civil Defense crews, who were besieged in the same area after intervening to rescue Red Crescent crews, contact with them remains unaccounted for.

This morning, the Civil Defense reported that contact with its crew was lost in the Barakat area west of Rafah while attempting to intervene to rescue a Red Crescent ambulance crew that had been targeted by the enemy.

Earlier, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said that enemy forces were still besieging four of its ambulances in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, noting that contact with the trapped crew was still lost. The society added in a statement that it was still awaiting the green light to reach the crew trapped in Hashashin area of Rafah.
