Ministry of Culture and Tourism condemned the repeated and systematic targeting of cultural and historical heritage sites and cities, as well as tourist facilities and destinations by US aggression.
In a statement, the Ministry denounced the US aggression’s targeting of a cotton ginning factory near the historic city of Zabid, which is listed as a World Heritage Site.
The ministry also condemned the targeting of residential neighborhoods in the Al-Kathib area in the Mina district, west of Hodeidah, residential neighborhoods in the Shu’ub district near the historic city of Sana’a, a function hall under construction in the Al-Jarraf area, and several civilian neighborhoods in Sa’dah and Al-Jawf.
The Ministry pointed to the extensive damage caused by these crimes to historical, tourist, and archaeological sites and landmarks in these cities, which are deeply rooted in history.
It emphasized that this targeting reflects the level of decadence reached by the US aggression and its persistence in destroying infrastructure and landmarks of Yemen’s cultural and historical heritage.
It also stressed that the US aggression’s persistent targeting of these sites, cities, civilian objects, and service facilities constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws and norms.
It held the US aggression fully legally and humanitarianly responsible for the repercussions of its crimes against civilians, civilian objects, and historical monuments.
The Ministry condemned the silence of the United Nations and the Security Council regarding America’s criminal practices, as well as the Zionist entity’s continued extermination of civilians in Gaza. It called on the peoples and free peoples of the world to take an honorable stand against these horrific crimes against humanity.
