The Entesaf Organization for Women’s, Children’s Rights stated that 15% of the population in Yemen suffer from some form of disability, noting that the number of disabled individuals has reached 4.9 million due to the ongoing aggression and blockade.
Entesaf clarified in a statement issued on Saturday, marking International Women’s Day on March 8, that the number of female victims of the US-Saudi aggression in Yemen has exceeded 5,566 killed and injured, including 2,495 women who were killed.
The statement pointed out that the number of victims due to indirect targeting has reached thousands of women, including cases of physical, psychological disabilities, as well as the worsening effects of the aggression, blockade over the past ten years. This has been accompanied by an economic crisis that has pushed millions to the brink of famine.
The statement indicated that women are the most affected by the interruption of essential services such as electricity, water, and fuel, as well as the decline or loss of household income, displacement, and the destruction of homes. These hardships have made them bear the brunt of the direct impact of the aggression. It also noted that 11.9 million Yemeni women and girls are in need of maternal, protection services.
Entesaf Organization noted the absence of the UN, its agencies during the period of aggression, which continues to this day, as well as their abandonment of responsibilities and withdrawal of support from most vital sectors, including the health sector.
It also highlighted the disregard for all violations against civilians, especially women.
The organization revealed that more than 6.2 million Yemeni women, girls are at risk of violence, which has led many to lose trust in the UN, its agencies. Despite designating March 8 as International Women’s Day, these organizations have remained silent in the face of the crimes committed against the people and women of Yemen.
The statement held the US-Saudi aggression to be fully responsible for all crimes and violations committed against civilians in Yemen over the past ten years.
It called on the international community and UN organizations to assume their legal, humanitarian responsibilities regarding the violations, horrific massacres suffered by the Yemeni people.
The statement urged the UN, the Security Council, and human rights, humanitarian organizations to fulfill their legal, humanitarian responsibilities regarding the horrific crimes committed by the coalition against the people and women of Yemen.
It also called for pressure to be exerted to stop the aggression, lift the blockade.
