Four citizens were killed and six others injured in the Gaza Strip on Sunday in a new Israeli violation of the ceasefire, less than 24 hours after the conclusion of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Local sources reported that the young man Mahmoud Medhat Abu Harb was killed by Israeli sniper fire in central Rafah in southern Gaza.
Abu Harb is the fourth martyr since Sunday morning, as two citizens were killed in the morning and four others were injured due to an Israeli airstrike targeting a gathering of citizens in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza.
On another note, the Red Crescent Society reported that its teams dealt with one martyr and two injuries in the town of al-Farahin, east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, and also transported two injuries from the center of Rafah.
This new Israeli escalation comes a day after the conclusion of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, while negotiations for the second phase were supposed to begin on the 16th day of the first phase of the agreement (February 3).
Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu refused to engage in negotiations for the second phase of the agreement and wanted to extend the first phase of the exchange deal to release as many Israeli prisoners in Gaza as possible without offering anything in return or fulfilling the obligations imposed on him in the agreement during the past period, a thing that Hamas rejected.
Hamas said that “Israel” should adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement and called on mediators to immediately begin negotiations for the second phase, which includes an Israeli withdrawal from the Strip and a complete halt to the war.
Since the ceasefire began on January 19, the occupation army has committed dozens of violations, resulting in more than 100 martyrs and hundreds of injuries, in addition to failing to implement the humanitarian protocol.
