Gaza’s Government Media Office Warns Of The Return Of Famine

The Gaza Government Media Office has warned of a rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis as the Israeli-imposed siege on the Gaza Strip enters its ninth consecutive day. The blockade, which has halted the entry of essential aid and supplies, has begun to show severe repercussions across all aspects of life in the besieged enclave.

The Media Office reported a dire shortage of drinking water, as fuel supplies—necessary to operate wells and desalination plants—have been completely cut off. This has left thousands of families without access to clean water, exacerbating the risk of waterborne diseases.

In addition, basic food supplies and essential commodities are rapidly disappearing from markets, raising fears of widespread hunger. The supply of tents to displaced persons has also been halted, leaving thousands without shelter and no capacity to establish new camps for the displaced.

The Government Media Office warned that the coming days will see a further deterioration in living and health conditions, with the spectre of famine looming over the Strip.

The blockade has cut off access to food, water, and medical supplies, pushing the population to the brink of a full-blown humanitarian disaster.

In response to the escalating crisis, the Gaza Government Media Office has called on Arab and Islamic countries to enforce their decisions to break the siege and pressure for the immediate opening of the Rafah crossing.

The Office emphasised that the international community must act swiftly to prevent a catastrophic loss of life.
