Mine Action Center: US Used Internationally Banned Weapons In Its Aggression On Sa’ada

The Executive Mine Action Center confirmed that the US aggression used internationally prohibited weapons in its aggression against civilian objects in Sa’ada Governorate.

The program stated in a post on the “X” platform that the enemy used explosive and destructive weapons in Sa’ada, including BGM-109 Tomahawks, which carry highly explosive and highly toxic warheads.

Cluster warheads have also been previously observed in use in five Yemeni governorates.

The program indicated that, according to the Geneva Convention and Protocol V, this constitutes a flagrant violation of all international laws and a transgression of all humanitarian and moral values, accompanied by a failure to take any precautionary measures to preserve the lives and souls of civilians.

It noted that this is not the first time the enemy has used these missiles in Yemen, a Tomahawk missile carrying BLU (97) cluster munitions was previously used on December 17, 2009, in the village of Al-Mahfad Al-Mujamalah in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen, resulting in human losses estimated at more than 40 civilians.

The center also worked to clear and remove the remnants of the bombing in various areas.

The program explained that during the past year, 2024, the Executive Center received reports of 228 casualties from mines, cluster bombs, and war remnants, including martyrs and wounded.

This is the total number of those whose information was verified, or who were referred and assisted only.

This statistic is not comprehensive, including 162 wounded and 66 martyrs.
