Mukalla Residents Express Their Rejection To The Visit Of Mercenary Al-Zubaidi

Dozens of young men from Mukalla blocked several main streets on Saturday evening, protesting the visit of the deputy head of the so-called Presidential Council and head of the UAE-backed Transitional Council, mercenary Aidarous al-Zubaidi, and their rejection of the provocative manner in which he entered the city.

Activists and local media circulated photos of the streets blocked with tires set alight by the protesters, expressing their anger at this visit at a time when the city is suffering from deteriorating services, most notably electricity.

The protesters expressed their rejection of what they described as attempts to impose a fait accompli through military force, emphasizing that Hadhramaut rejects any armed presence and demanding that any attempts to drag the governorate into a state of tension and conflict be confronted.

It is worth noting that al-Zubaidi arrived in Hadhramaut Governorate from Al Mahrah Governorate, accompanied by a large military force of more than 700 personnel, supported by more than 100 armored vehicles and military vehicles. Residents considered this an escalation and a provocation to the Hadrami street.

A similar scene occurred during Al-Zubaidi’s visit to Al-Mahra Governorate last Thursday, when he condemned the peaceful sit-in in Al-Mahra Governorate, describing it as a “provocative move” by forces loyal to Al-Zubaidi during his visit.
