Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Bajaala met with the coordinator of the Women’s Protection Cluster in Yemen at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Amira Al-Muhanna.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of the UNFPA Women’s Protection Cluster, discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the ministry and the cluster to address the challenges facing women’s protection programs, especially in the areas of funding and sustainability of field activities.
The meeting discussed mechanisms to enhance coordination between the two sides to ensure the effective implementation of joint programs, with a focus on supporting shelters, especially the shelter for begging women and the “Challenge” center for disabled women, in addition to funding the shelter for released female prisoners.
Social Affairs and Labor Minister stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between the ministry and the bloc in line with the faith identity , authentic Yemeni values, and to expand support for women’s protection programs.
For her part, the coordinator of the Women’s Bloc confirmed that she will work with the team at the Fund and the Ministry to study and meet the needs of women in Yemen and determine the type of intervention required.
