The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights announced on Tuesday that entire families, including women and children, were killed in the events that took place in the Syrian coastal region.
The spokesperson for the commission, Thamin Al-Khaitan, said in a press briefing in Geneva that the commission documented the killing of 111 civilians in the Syrian coastal region and that the real number of dead is believed to be “much higher.”
He added to reporters, “Many of the documented killings were summary executions and were carried out on a sectarian basis.”
This comes as the Takfiri groups continue to commit massacres against the Alawite sect in the Syrian coast, where thousands of civilians were killed this week as the Takfiri groups affiliated with the new authority in Damascus carried out dozens of massacres in cities, villages and country sides of the Syrian coast, in light of encouragement from the countries supporting these groups, and Arab and international silence.
