Hadramout Governor Exposes Saudi-Emirati Exploitation, Growing Public Anger

Hadramout Governor Major General Luqman Baras has revealed the worsening humanitarian and economic crisis in the province under Saudi-Emirati occupation, warning of growing public anger against foreign-backed exploitation schemes.

In an exclusive interview with Almasirah Net, Baras accused the Saudi-Emirati coalition of serving as colonial tools for the U.S. and Britain, plundering Yemen’s resources while imposing severe living conditions on civilians.

Baras stated that the US and Britain have long sought to control Hadramout for its strategic and economic value, using Saudi Arabia and the UAE as proxies.

“Saudi Arabia is essentially a British-American colony, managed by foreign experts and mercenaries,” he said. “Their expansionist ambitions target resource-rich regions like Hadramout, where oil was discovered even before Saudi Arabia’s own reserves.”

He highlighted historical attempts by Riyadh to annex Hadramout, including bribing local figures and sponsoring armed militias. However, resistance from Yemeni patriots has repeatedly thwarted these plans.

Hadramout is now sharply divided between supporters of Ansarallah and the Yemeni resistance, who seek full liberation and collaborators with the Saudi-Emirati occupation driven by personal gain.

Baras condemned the coalition for creating artificial divisions, suppressing dissent through espionage, and manipulating local conflicts. Yet, he noted, “Public awareness is growing, and protests demanding the occupiers’ expulsion are spreading.”

Under the occupation-backed government, Hadramout faces hyperinflation and currency collapse, failing education and healthcare systems, and rampant insecurity and unemployment.
“The occupiers promised to turn Hadramout into ‘another Dubai,’ but instead, they’ve brought ruin,” Baras said.

Concluding with Eid al-Fitr greetings, Baras called on Yemenis to unite against occupation and support Palestinians in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iraq.
“Our strength lies in resistance. Victory comes from Allah, and no matter how few we are, we will prevail.”
