A meeting was held today in Sana’a, chaired by Information Minister Hashem Sharaf al-Din, to discuss the workflow of media institutions and their performance during the current phase, in light of the ongoing American and Israeli escalation in Gaza and Yemen.
The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Minister of Information Dr. Omar Al-Bukhaiti, Acting Chairman of Al-Thawra Foundation for Press, Printing and Publishing, Ahmed Rassae, and leaders from various media institutions.
The meeting also explored strategies to expand media outreach by delivering its messages in multiple foreign languages, in order to influence global public opinion.
The meeting reviewed strategic directions to achieve a qualitative leap in national media production, ensuring alignment with regional developments, international shifts, the ongoing American aggression on Yemen, and the escalating Zionist enemy’s aggression on Gaza.
Discussions also centered on countering disinformation campaigns orchestrated by hostile media outlets and their affiliated tools, mercenaries, and agents.
During the meeting, Minister Sharaf al-Din stressed the importance of maintaining proactive media efforts, enhancing foreign-language broadcasting, and effectively communicating Yemen’s narrative regarding the horrific crimes committed by the American enemy through its deliberate targeting of civilians, residential neighborhoods, and civilian infrastructure across Yemen.
The Minister pointed out that the current critical phase the nation is undergoing requires doubling media efforts to counter the propaganda orchestrated by the aggressor states’ media machine in order to expose their crimes and schemes, and reveal the scale of the aggression.
He stated: “Traditional media no longer effectively reaches international audiences. While these outlets remain important, today’s era differs significantly as the age of digital media and social networking platforms – requires keeping pace with developments in this field.”
Minister of Information Hashem Sharaf al-Din voiced his aspirations to activate the role of media in translating content into foreign languages, as well as producing multilingual materials, to bolster and amplify the media message in visual, audio, and written formats, reaching a greater international audience.
He pointed out the significance of media content translated into foreign languages, as it serves to deliver an accurate and factual message to the international audience.
He drew attention to the role of those responsible for crafting media messages through digital platforms and social media, emphasizing the need for translation into multiple languages and the inclusion of varied information sources.
The Minister of Information also stressed the need to train and qualify a number of journalists and media professionals to communicate in foreign languages and enhance their skills in this area, by utilizing the expertise available at the Faculty of Languages at Sana’a University and the Yemen News Agency “Saba.”
He also called for the activation of press conferences in English and other languages and emphasized the importance of taking all necessary steps to deliver a meaningful media message.
He emphasized the need to post translated content on social media platforms and to expand the distribution process, aiming to inform the global public about the crimes and violations committed by the US and Israel in Yemen and Gaza.
Minister Sharaf al-Din expressed his hope to enhance coordination with the Islamic Radio and Television Union in the media sector, stressing that the current situation demands flexibility in engaging with foreign media to cover the active official and public movements in Yemen that support Gaza and the Palestinian cause.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Information emphasized the importance of coordination between official media and national channels during the current phase, given the escalation of the U.S. and Israeli aggression on Yemen and Palestine.
He stated that the ongoing battle requires greater focus on the media message, delivering it in various foreign languages, and leveraging expertise in this area.
He highlighted the successes achieved on the ground and the heroic steadfastness of the Yemeni people in facing global imperialist powers led by the US and “Israel”.
Meanwhile, The Acting Chairman of Al-Thawra Foundation also noted that the foundation has introduced an English-language portal on its website, ‘Al-Thawra Net,’ to translate news reports into English—part of broader efforts to extend Yemen’s media reach to international audiences.
He expressed hope for strengthening coordination among media institutions and outlets, and for enhancing the performance of official media in producing purposeful messages in various languages, in line with current developments and with the aim of advancing overall media work.
