UAE Transfers Foreign Mercenaries To bases It Occupies Off Coast Of Yemen

Popular discontent is growing in the occupied southern governorates against the Saudi-Emirati occupation and its allied government, due to the collapse of the economic situation and the deterioration of public services.

Local sources expect widespread popular protests in the coming weeks, rejecting the deteriorating services and the lack of solutions.

University unions in Aden, Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwa hold the occupation fully responsible for the collapse of the economic situation and the non-payment of academic dues at universities.

This comes amid the ongoing salary cuts and educational chaos in areas controlled by the occupation government loyal to the Saudi-Emirati coalition, coinciding with widespread strikes at public universities.

This comes as the city of Aden, under occupation control, is experiencing a severe electricity crisis, with power outages exceeding seven hours per day. This exacerbates the suffering of residents with the onset of the summer season and record-breaking temperatures.

Informed sources reported that the power outages are the result of a severe shortage of fuel for generating stations, in addition to the neglect of regular maintenance, threatening the collapse of the entire electrical system.

Sources revealed that the Warsila 2 power plant in Mansoura is at risk of shutting down in the next few days due to a fuel shortage. This could deprive the public grid of 50 megawatts of its generating capacity, exacerbating the crisis to unprecedented levels.

Local sources expect widespread popular protests in the coming weeks, protesting the deteriorating services and lack of solutions. Calls for a boycott of electricity bills are escalating, given the mercenary government’s inability to provide any serious measures to address the crisis.

Separately, Saudi Arabia revealed yesterday that the UAE has begun transferring foreign mercenaries to its bases off the Yemeni coast.

Accounts affiliated with Saudi intelligence circulated videos showing the transfer of foreign fighters, most of them Colombians, to its base in Portland, an autonomous region in Somalia.

The UAE maintains a base known as “Bososo,” located on the edge of the Somali coast overlooking the Gulf of Aden, towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The motives behind the new Emirati move, which coincided with media reports of the deployment of Israeli radars, remain unclear. However, the timing suggests it is part of Emirati efforts to escalate the ground offensive in Yemen, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Saudi-Emirati occupation previously used foreign mercenaries, including Colombians, during the aggression launched against Yemen in March 2015, which ended in disastrous failure.

The UAE seeks to control Yemen’s coastal strip to strengthen its influence in the region and improve the prospects of its ports, which are far from global commercial shipping lanes.
