UN: Not A Single Aid Truck Has Entered Gaza Since Last Month

UN Secretary-General’s spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, said that since early March, not a single truckload of food, fuel, or medicine has entered the Gaza Strip, according to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Dujarric added in press statements on Monday that for 50 days, food stocks in Gaza have been critically low, and essential medicines and medical supplies are running low.

He noted that ambulances in Gaza have been forced to reduce their life-saving services due to fuel shortages.

He noted that bakeries in the Gaza Strip have been forced to close, adding, “Our warehouses and those of our humanitarian partners have also run out of tents for the displaced.”

Dujarric noted that “we cannot access some of our warehouses inside Gaza due to forced displacement orders.”

He stressed that children and adults alike are suffering from hunger and lack of access to healthcare, adding that hundreds of thousands in the Gaza Strip have been newly displaced, and attacks on civilians, emergency teams, and aid workers have again escalated.

Dujarric said, “The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warns that the continued blockade of humanitarian aid is having a devastating impact on the population of the Gaza Strip.”

Earlier, the Government Media Office in Gaza warned of dangerous Israeli plans aimed at controlling humanitarian aid and imposing further starvation and blockade policies on more than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, in light of the ongoing aggression and genocidal crimes against civilians.

Government media confirmed that the Israeli occupation has continued to completely close the crossings for more than a month and a half, preventing the entry of food, medicine, and shelter materials, in clear violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which oblige the occupying power to meet the needs of the population under its control.
