The US State Department approved the potential sale of Eitan Powerpack engines and related equipment to Israel, the Pentagon said Monday.
“The United States is committed to the security of “Israel”, and it is vital to US national interests to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability,” the Pentagon said in a statement, adding the proposed sale will enhance Israel’s capability to meet “current and future” threats.
The estimated cost of the sale is $180 million.
The ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on January 19 and lasted for 58 days, has collapsed after the Israeli occupation reneged on its terms and resumed its aggression on March 18, 2025, accompanied by a tightened siege on the Gaza Strip.
Since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces — with US and European support — have continued to commit the “genocide” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
So far, the Zionist aggression has resulted in over 167,000 casualties — martyrs and wounded — the majority of whom are women and children, along with more than 14,000 reported missing, according to Palestinian medical sources.
