An American website revealed that, so far, the United States has spent approximately $3 billion on its latest campaign against Yemen, which began in mid-March.
According to Responsible Statecraft, US forces have struck more than 800 targets in Yemen, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians. It added that the recent loss of a fighter jet worth tens of millions further adds to the mounting cost.
The site stated that the billions spent by the United States in this campaign have yielded questionable results. While US Central Command claims its efforts have weakened the “Houthis'” combat capabilities, CNN reported last month that the campaign has achieved only limited outcomes.
Earlier this month, The New York Times cited Pentagon officials in closed briefings admitting that efforts to destroy Yemen’s vast arsenal—mostly located underground and consisting of missiles, drones, and launch platforms—have had limited success.
More importantly, the website noted that while the US claims its campaign is intended to secure safe passage for ships through the Red Sea, it is in fact targeting Yemen, which is striking the US-backed Israeli entity in an effort to stop the aggression and lift the blockade on Gaza.
Since mid-March, the United States has been waging an assault on Yemen in support of the Israeli occupation entity, which is carrying out a genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Yemen continues to affirm its commitment to operations in support of Gaza until the aggression ends and the blockade is lifted.
