Yemeni Foreign Ministry Calls For International Commission Into US War Crimes

The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for the formation of an independent international commission to investigate all crimes committed by the United States against Yemen and the Yemeni people.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed that “the desperate attempts of the United States to evade responsibility for the crimes it is committing in Yemen aim to cover up its aggression and atrocities—which shame humanity—against civilians and civilian infrastructure, as well as to conceal its abject failure in Yemen.”

The statement clarified that “since mid-last month, America has launched more than 1,200 airstrikes and naval bombardments, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of civilians and the destruction of numerous civilian sites, including residential neighborhoods, ports, health facilities, water tanks, and archaeological landmarks, in blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”

It added that “what America is doing in Yemen constitutes a full-scale aggression and represents a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and all international norms and conventions.”

The statement further noted that “the world is no longer fooled by American deception and lies, and it has become clear that America has a criminal record in human rights, with its hands stained by the blood of innocents in many parts of the world.”

It emphasized that “just as the US has failed to achieve its criminal objectives, its hypocrisy has been exposed, and it will fail in all its attempts to evade responsibility for its brutal crimes.”
