The far-right Israeli Likud party last night published an image from a protest in Kaplan (Tel Aviv), in occupied “Yaffa”, showing a demonstrator in a performance art piece surrounded by “severed heads,” allegedly representing the head of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Netanyahu’s Likud party called the demonstration “madness” and insisted that it “represents incitement to murder the prime minister and behead him.”
“Where is the enforcement of the attorney general and Ronen Bar?” the spokesperson asked, sharing a photograph showing a shirtless protester covered in bloodied bandages lying motionless on the street, clutching an Israeli flag.
Around the protester’s head, multiple Netanyahu masks were placed on the ground, each bearing a sticker with slogans like “guilty” and “danger.”
It is worth noting that launching an investigation into suspected incitement to murder requires the approval of the Attorney General. As of now, it remains unclear whether the police plan to request an investigation into the demonstrator captured in the footage.
