Fifth Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine Conference Concludes In Sana’a

The Fifth Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine Conference, “Reality and Ambition,” concluded yesterday in the capital, Sana’a.

The three-day conference, organized by the National Center for Public Health Laboratories in Sana’a, brought together 1,500 local and international laboratory medicine specialists, specialized personnel, companies, and medical institutions.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants recommended improving the scientific and practical skills of medical laboratory graduates by updating curricula to keep pace with labor market requirements.

They also emphasized the need to develop a system for continuing education in the field of medical laboratories and to establish a research center at the central laboratory and its branches in the governorates.

The participants pointed to the importance of establishing an administrative unit within the Ministry of Health and Environment specializing in medical laboratories and blood banks, and working to activate the central laboratory’s role in overseeing the quality of testing in private and public laboratories in accordance with the law.

The recommendations also called for expediting the issuance of the Medical Laboratories Law, activating the role of the Laboratory Diagnostic Medicine Syndicate, and selecting competent personnel to manage it.

The conference aimed to enhance communication between scientists, researchers, and specialists in laboratory medicine and other medical professions, raise the efficiency of laboratory medicine in diagnosing infectious and non-communicable diseases, and strengthen the role of medical laboratories as a key partner in developing and improving the quality of blood transfusion services.

It is worth noting that the conference discussed 31 working papers focusing on the status of laboratory diagnostic services, blood transfusion services, comprehensive quality systems, and the relationship between physicians and laboratory technicians.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Chairman of the Medical Council, Dr. Mujahid Musar, along with the Director General of the National Center for Public Health Laboratories and Vice Chairman of the Conference, Dr. Abdul-Ilah Al-Harazi, honored the scientific, preparatory, and organizational committees, as well as the companies contributing and supporting the conference.
