The Hamas Movement stated that the Israeli occupation “continues to engineer starvation in Gaza, and the current aid represents only a drop in the ocean of humanitarian needs.”
In a statement released on Thursday, Hamas said, “The Zionist occupation is continuing its systematic starvation crime against more than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by restricting the entry of humanitarian aid and subjecting it to security and political conditions—what has come to be known as the ‘engineering of starvation’—and by imposing new realities on the ground through the ‘ghetto aid plan,’ which seeks to present this crime as a humanitarian solution.”
The statement explained that “the amount of aid allowed in after 81 days of complete closure is merely a drop in the ocean compared to Gaza’s natural needs. Before the war, the Strip required about 500 trucks per day to meet the minimum necessities of life. Today, the quantities permitted are less than one-tenth of that figure, amid a growing number of displaced people, the collapse of the healthcare system, and the widespread hunger and malnutrition, especially among children.”
Hamas warned of the occupation’s attempts to implement its plan to establish what resembles “detention camps” in southern Gaza under the guise of aid distribution. The movement described it as a rejected colonial scheme that will not succeed and will be met with the will of the people, who reject humiliation and subjugation and who cling to their right to life, freedom, and dignity.
The Movement renewed its call on the international community and humanitarian organizations to exert urgent pressure to fully break the blockade, reject the engineering of hunger and humiliation, and provide a free and permanent humanitarian corridor to ensure the flow of aid that meets the actual needs of the people without manipulation or blackmail.
