India Reopens 32 Airports As Tensions With Pakistan Ease

India announced on Monday the reopening of 32 airports in the northern and western parts of the country that had been closed due to rising tensions with Pakistan.

According to Indian media, the Airports Authority of India and other relevant aviation bodies issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to resume operations at the airports, which had been shut to civilian flights amid escalating border tensions.

The notice is to be issued in coordination with the Indian Air Force, media reports said. The 32 closures were part of a broader security response, with 32 out of the country’s 487 airports temporarily suspended.

Indian Defense Ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Suneel Barthwal said on Monday that he night on the line of contact between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir passed quietly, no incidents were reported

“No incidents have been reported, marking the first calm night in recent days,” he said.
