Italian airline ITA announced on Saturday that it has extended the cancellation of all flights to and from Israel until May 19. This comes as part of a number of international airlines’ continued extension of flights to Tel Aviv since a Yemeni missile targeted Ben Gurion Airport last week.
Channel 12, the private Israeli news channel, reported: “ITA announced the extension of its suspension of flights to and from Israel until May 19. The last extension it announced before that was until May 11.”
The channel indicated, according to the Anadolu Agency, that the Italian company followed the example of the German Lufthansa Group, which announced on Friday the extension of its suspension of flights to and from Israel until May 18.
The group includes Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and the German low-cost airline Eurowings.
The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air also extended its flights to Israel until May 11, as did the Spanish Air Europa.
Air France extended its flights to and from Israel until May 13, United Airlines until May 18, and Delta Air Lines until May 20.
The American airlines also extended their flights to and from Israel until May 13. Iberia, the Spanish national airline, suspended flights to Ben Gurion Airport until May 31, while British Airways extended its flights to Israel the longest, until June 14.
