In an unprecedented development, the Yemeni hypersonic missile that targeted Ben Gurion Airport in Lod constituted a serious security breach and had profound economic repercussions for the Zionist enemy state at a time when it is suffering from escalating internal crises due to the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.
Economic observers believe that the sectors most affected by the attack are aviation, tourism, and trade, along with an expected increase in defense spending and a decline in investor confidence in the occupying state’s economic environment.
Palestinian economic expert Dr. Samir Al-Daqran emphasized that targeting Ben Gurion Airport, which serves more than 25 million passengers annually, represents a severe blow to the Israeli economy, especially with the Yemeni armed forces threatening to completely close Israeli airspace.
He added to the newspaper “Palestine” that the suspension of flights to and from the enemy state by a number of international airlines exacerbates the crisis and threatens a significant decline in tourism revenues, a pillar of the Israeli economy.
Al-Daqran pointed out that the continuation of missile threats will directly impact air and commercial cargo traffic, especially in sensitive sectors such as precision technology. This will lead to higher alternative transportation costs and longer delivery times for products, threatening the stability of entire supply chains.
Dr. Nael Mousa explained that the disruption of air traffic in the occupying state, even if temporary, could lead to a decline in the shares of airlines, tourism, and insurance companies on the Israeli stock exchange.
Mousa told Palestine newspaper that strengthening defense systems deep inside Israel will impose additional financial burdens on the public budget, potentially at the expense of civilian projects and social services.
He pointed out that the enemy state is incurring heavy losses in its economic sectors, both directly and indirectly, but it avoids discussing them to avoid confusing the home front.
The Hebrew newspaper Maariv reported on the details of the recent Yemeni missile that struck Ben Gurion Airport, noting that the missile has high stealth capabilities against Israeli and American air defense systems.
