The Presidential Committee for Monitoring Prison and Prisoner Conditions immediately released 14 prisoners in Ibb Governorate who had served their legal term.
The Presidential Committee, headed by Jihad Fahd Ghathaya, Judge Abdulrahman Al-Nazili (Chief Prosecutor of Ibb Governorate), committee member Akram Mohammed Al-Hababi, Judge Khaled Barouq (Dhi As-Sufal Prosecutor), and Colonel Anwar Al-Mutawakkil (Director of the Central Prison), continues its field work as part of its fourth prison inspection plan in several governorates.
This is part of a comprehensive national plan to review prison and prisoner conditions, reflecting a commitment to standards of justice and human rights.
The Presidential Committee is currently visiting the remand prison in Dhi As-Sufal District in Ibb Governorate to hear prisoners’ complaints and review their legal files, with a focus on those who have completed three-quarters of their sentences or who meet the conditions for release on legal bail.
The Committee has worked to address the conditions of prisoners by developing appropriate recommendations for each case, including the length of the sentence, financial obligations towards third parties, and consideration of private rights.
The committee explained that this visit is part of a series of visits that included the Central Correctional Facility in Ibb, the pretrial prison, and the Yarim Detention Center, in addition to criminal investigation centers and police stations affiliated with the prosecution.
The committee indicated that the goal of these field visits is to expedite judicial procedures, improve health and food services, and enhance religious and vocational awareness programs for prisoners.
The committee emphasized that these visits reflect the directives of the revolutionary and presidential leadership to prioritize prisoners’ rights, establish justice, and expedite the resolution of pending cases.
The committee appreciated the commitment of the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council to supporting reform efforts and improving prison and prisoner conditions.
