Protesters In Occupied Aden Block Major Roads In Rally Against Mercenary Rulers

Angry protesters blocked major roads in the Al-Salam neighborhood of the Khormaksar district in the city of Aden, expressing their rejection of the Southern Transitional Council’s (STC) actions against demonstrators and its prevention of peaceful protests.

Eyewitnesses reported that this escalation occurred after protesters were prevented from expressing their demands through chants, prompting them to resort to blocking main streets in the area.

This development followed a massive public demonstration held on Saturday afternoon at Al-Oroudh Square in the same district, where thousands of citizens gathered to express their deep discontent with the ongoing deterioration in living conditions and public services, along with the worsening economic collapse affecting residents.

Protesters raised banners demanding urgent and comprehensive solutions to the severe crisis in basic services, particularly the frequent power outages and water shortages.

They also chanted slogans rejecting the STC, voicing their anger over the worsening situation and calling for justice and improvements to their living conditions.

They stressed that the successive crises now pose a direct threat to their daily lives and stability.

During the protest, eyewitnesses reported that demonstrators were violently assaulted by STC security forces, who allegedly used live ammunition and DShK machine gun fire to disperse the peaceful demonstration, leading to chaos and panic among the protestors.

Participants condemned these assaults, describing them as a suppression of their legitimate right to free expression and to demand their fundamental rights.

The protesters called for immediate and serious action from all concerned parties, urging the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition and the STC to assume their responsibilities toward the citizens and to act urgently to halt the ongoing depreciation of the local currency and to ensure the stability of basic commodity prices, which have become a heavy burden on the population
