UNRWA: Israeli Occupation Authorities Deprive 550 Palestinian Students In Jerusalem of education

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has affirmed that the Israeli occupation authorities are depriving hundreds of Palestinian students of their right to education in Eastern Jerusalem.

UNRWA said in a statement on Saturday on its Facebook account that Israeli police officers stormed three of its schools in Shu’afat refugee camp in Occupied Jderusalem last Thursday to enforce an “illegitimate” order for their closure, forcing 550 students out of these schools.

UNRWA said that as a result it was forced to evacuate all six schools run by the agency in Eastern Jerusalem, calling the IOA measure a “flagrant” violation of these children’s right to education.

The agency said earlier that closure of its six schools in Eastern Jerusalem would deprive 800 Palestinian boys and girls from their right to education in violation of the international law.
