The United States announced an arms deal worth more than $1.4 billion to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), days before US President Donald Trump’s visit.
The deal, which the US State Department said has been approved and notified to Congress, includes $1.3 billion for Chinook helicopters and $130 million for spare parts and support for F-16 fighter jets.
The UAE is expected to be the last stop on US President Donald Trump’s Middle East tour, which has made a commitment to invest $1.4 trillion in the United States over ten years.
It is expected that the visit program will witness the announcement of a number of financial deals between the two countries, emphasizing investments in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, manufacturing, and energy. Trump is also likely to announce a major arms deal with Saudi Arabia, the first stop on his regional tour.
