The Israeli occupation forces attacked the aid ship Handala late Saturday night as it made its way toward the Gaza Strip in an effort to break the ongoing Israeli blockade.
The vessel was carrying a group of international activists who aimed to deliver humanitarian aid and draw global attention to the blockade’s catastrophic impact on Gaza’s population.
A live broadcast from the ship captured the moment the occupation soldiers stormed the vessel while it was nearly a hundred miles away from Gaza’s shores. The feed was abruptly cut off during the raid, and the crew are believed to have been abducted by the Israeli forces.
Before the boarding, the ship had issued a distress call after Israeli naval forces approached it in international waters.
The Handala is the latest in a series of civilian efforts seeking to challenge the long-standing blockade imposed on Gaza, which has been widely condemned by international human rights organizations.
