An Israeli Golani Brigade soldier died by suicide this week at the “Sde Teiman” military base, according to Israeli enemy media reports today, Thursday. The soldier reportedly shot himself.
Haaretz newspaper stated that the soldier took his own life after undergoing an investigation by military police. The newspaper added that the soldier had left the Gaza Strip for a refresher course, where military police investigators were waiting for him regarding a prior inquiry.
According to the report, the soldier’s commanders decided to confiscate his weapon after the investigation. Hours later, he took a comrade’s weapon and shot himself.
This marks the third suicide within the ranks of the Zionist enemy army since the beginning of July. Earlier this month, a soldier who had fought in Gaza died by suicide due to what is described as “post-war disorders.” Another soldier set himself on fire inside his car, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after participating in fighting in Gaza and Lebanon.
Last month, a Tel Aviv University study revealed that one in every eight Israeli soldiers who fought in Gaza is mentally unfit to return to service due to mental disorders or illnesses. The study indicated that 12 percent of Israeli soldiers who fought in Gaza reported severe symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The Tel Aviv University study emphasized that soldiers suffering from PTSD are effectively unfit for service.
