Three people died from suffocation inside a water well, while two others were rescued in Al-Sidrah village, Israr area, in the Al-Ta’iziyah district of Taiz province.
The Civil Defense Authority reported that it received an alert about the incident last night and immediately dispatched teams to the scene. The teams successfully rescued two individuals from a hand-dug well about 30 meters deep and recovered the bodies of three others, aged between 28 and 57.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the deaths were caused by group suffocation resulting from operating a generator inside the well, which led to the emission of exhaust fumes and a depletion of oxygen.
The Civil Defense Authority renewed its warnings to citizens against operating generators inside wells or entering them for swimming or other purposes, stressing that such actions pose a deadly risk.
