The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced Sunday morning that 51 of its staff members have been martyred and 35 others arrested since the start of the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip. The society stated that this toll reflects the extent of the direct targeting of its personnel and facilities.
In a statement, the PRCS emphasized its commitment to continuing humanitarian and medical services for Gaza’s residents despite the immense dangers. The organization made it clear it will not abandon the population during these difficult times.
The PRCS explained that its teams are working in extraordinary conditions on the ground, with ongoing Israeli attacks targeting paramedics and medical centers. It condemned these actions as a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian laws.
Early Sunday, a PRCS employee was killed and several colleagues were injured in an Israeli airstrike that hit the society’s building in the Al-Amal neighborhood, west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
PRCS staff in Gaza have faced repeated targeting by Israeli forces, with attacks on both their headquarters and field teams. These assaults have resulted in deaths and injuries, in what the organization says is a clear violation of international laws that mandate the protection of humanitarian and medical personnel.
