The Presidency of the Republic of Yemen in Sana’a issued a statement on Saturday evening, mourning the martyrdom of the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction, Ahmed Ghalib al-Rahwi, and a number of his fellow ministers.
They were killed in what the statement described as a treacherous Zionist aggression last Thursday.
The text of the statement is as follows:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
“Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah. Some of them have fulfilled their vow [by martyrdom], and some are still waiting, but they have never changed [their commitment].”
In support of the oppressed Palestinian people, Yemen has fought the battle of the Promised Conquest and the Sacred Jihad. It has earned great honor and has presented convoys of martyrs from the heroes of the armed forces and other great Yemeni people who carried the banner and pledged to Allah to remain steadfast in the truth, no matter the cost.
Today, in the midst of the open battle with the Israeli enemy entity, we announce to our people and our nation a new constellation of great martyrs from the national leaderships who represent the Yemeni people in all their factions. We announce the martyrdom of the Mujahid Ahmed Ghalib al-Rahwi, the Prime Minister in the Government of Change and Construction, along with a number of his fellow ministers. They were targeted by the treacherous, criminal Israeli enemy during a routine government workshop to evaluate its activities and performance over a year of work. Others of their companions were injured with moderate and serious injuries and are under medical care. This occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, the fifth of Rabi’ al-Awwal, 1447 AH.
We reassure our great Yemeni people and pledge to them that the government, with the help of Allah Almighty, will carry out its role within the framework of handling affairs. The institutions will continue to provide their services to the steadfast, patient, and struggling Yemeni people, and they will not be affected, no matter the magnitude of the loss. The blood of the great martyrs will be fuel and a motive to continue on the same path.
We affirm to our great Yemeni people, to the oppressed Palestinian people, to all the people of our nation, and to all the free people of the world that we will continue our principled stance in supporting and assisting the people of Gaza, and in building our armed forces and developing their capabilities to face all challenges and dangers, just as our great Yemeni people are present in all fields and arenas with full determination, will, and faith.
“To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return. Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.”
Eternity and mercy for the martyrs.
Healing for the wounded.
Freedom for the prisoners.
Glory and victory to our dear people and to all the free people of the nation.
Issued by the Presidency of the Republic of Yemen.
7 Rabi’ al-Awwal, 1447 AH, corresponding to August 30, 2025.
